Aybars Uckun

A funny thing happened on the way to the mosque…

Aybars was born in Turkey, to an Afghan father and Turkish mother. After leaving Turkey for the USA as a baby, he grew up in a harsh, far off land whose native inhabitants refer to it as “New Jersey”.

In 1997 he decided to recommit himself to Islam and study to be an Imam, but then had a dramatic encounter with the Lord in a Messianic Synagogue. He later moved to Seattle and became a Messianic Rabbi, but felt compelled to serve his own people after watching the fall of Kabul in 2021.

Aybars is currently working helping The Al-Maidah Initiative develop vision, growth, and outreach strategies for the next ten years. He also helps disciple staff, raise funds for the organization, and does speaking engagements about Al-Maidah’s work in the Muslim community and God’s heart for reaching them with the Gospel. If you would like to have him share at your group,  contact us at info@al-maidah.org!
